President Obama addressed his Chicago campaign headquarters and was overcome with emotion. After a hard fought battle across the country he took time to talk to a team of young adults who held the line. Meanwhile, the battle in Florida still wages on as counting continues.
By Thursday afternoon, the state Division of Elections Web site said Mr. Obama led Mr. Romney 49.9 percent to 49.2 percent, with a difference of about 55,000 votes out of more than eight million votes cast. Several counties continued to count absentee ballots throughout the day. An official declaration is expected on Friday, and an Obama victory would give him 332 electoral votes to Mr. Romney’s 206.
President Obama told his Chi-town team:
“I’m really proud of all of you, what you guys accomplished will go on in the annals of history.”
